Count down to my holiday is well under way now!  Only five days to go. I'm off up to Northumberland and the Keilder Forest. It's a lovely place and the complete opposite of busy Blackpool! Of course I love living here in Blackpool, but it's nice to get away from it all once in a while. There's no mobile phone signal so I can leave the hotel behind and have a complete rest.
The dogs absolutely love an early morning walk through the forest and around the lake. It's incredibly picturesque, and teeming with wildlife, including red squirrels, but you have to be extremely lucky to see one as they are very illusive! The good thing is that the woodland paths are reasonably accessible even for wheelchairs so my dad can  come with us and that is unusual for him. He usually has to wait in the car when we go for a walk.
Our log cabin is gorgeous. Spacious and warm and very comfortable. Lots of birds gather around so we can feed them and watch them all day. Some of them even alight on your hand which is fantastic. Plus there are lots of wild rabbits, and we always put vegetable peelings out for them so they come up near the cabin. It's like a wildlife programme on your doorstep!
Not long to go now. I'll let you know how we got on when I'm back.
